Welcome To Recovery

Hello! Here you will find blog posts and resources to help you recover from narcissistic abuse,
toxic relationships and divorce because all of us eventually get to a point where we say
"no more" to just surviving and oh holy yes to thriving! YAY! It's time. Let's get there.

I've found that kids need continual reassurance during divorce ... and even beyond the finalization. I've been blogging about divorce and coaching women through their individual situations for about 7  years. Yep. And one of the biggest questions and hurdles people face is their worry about whether the children will be alright. Well, let's be honest here; it's a worry if they are a truly caring empathetic nurturing parent. Otherwise all bets are off on the personality disorder spectrum. The issues children may face are worrying about the changes in their family and being brave despite those, worrying if they are at fault for their parents divorce (which they aren't!) and realizing what will change; two homes, celebrating holidays and birthdays differently and possibly having step siblings in the future. I have learned throughout this process that knowledge is KEY, people. So the more we know the better armed we are with information to make better decisions. Yet we also have to implement those things we learn. Its really a 2 step process.

Books Help Give Kids An Extra Layer of Emotional Support During Divorce
We as parents really want to get off on the right foot and reading books to our children about divorce is a GOOD way to keep communication open and transparent for our kids. We want them to feel like they can ask questions and the thing is that talking about divorce is NOT A ONE TIME CONVERSATION. This is going to be an ongoing process of discussion for likely years to come. Because things may change, custody may change and homes will change, maybe you'll change jobs or move out of state... there can sometimes be unforeseen circumstances and if you remarry and bring in new additional children either step children or have a baby with your new significant other there will be MORE changes. This isn't meant to overwhelm or scare you but to let you know reality... that there will be more changes and the need to ADAPT and have more conversations in the near and far future. It's so so important that you realize this now so you can be better prepared. So I PERSONALLY bought these books listed for my children the couple days before we announced our divorce to the children and the FIRST ONE  is by FAR MY FAVORITE. I consider this book a must have in your collection to get through this. We read this several times over the course of the first year or so.... and I believe it helped them.
